The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office has been proactively targeting those who violate controlled substance laws for years. The narcotics unit, Pharmaceutical Diversion Unit, along with the Patrol Division aggressively pursues and arrests drug dealers and users throughout the county. We have learned through the years that enforcement action is only effective when it is coupled with education and treatment. Through interviews with those arrested we have found that most violators as well as their family members are searching for help but don’t know where to turn.

After listening to the citizens and those addicted, we realized that there was a need for a central hub where citizens can find drug abuse resources such as detox facilities, in-patient and out-patient rehab facilities as well as juvenile and court alternative programs.  “We have partnered with community groups to make it easier to find the help you need.”

The illegal sale and prescribing of prescription drugs and drug abuse is a challenge that affects our entire community. By applying pressure through enforcement and by providing resources for education and treatment the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is “Leading the way for a safer Citrus County”
